Good morning friends! Hope you are enjoying this fine #thriftscorethursday!
This week I was excited to finally be able to hit the thrift stores again but sadly I walked away empty handed. Sometimes that’s just how it goes – for every fantastic find, there are usually several weeks of slim pickings. Here’s hoping the next awesome score is right around the corner!
So today I thought I would share with you a very special thrift score… My very first thrift score ever, in fact:
The year was 2010. I had just recently discovered the world of blogs and a new-found love of white ceramic animals thanks to Sherry from Young House Love. The occasion was an 80’s-themed birthday party for a friend and Bryan suggested we search for appropriately-themed clothing at the thrift store.
So I set foot in a thrift store for the very first time in my life on July 16, 2010 (I double-checked this on Facebook, because it was such a life-changing event I had to post about it) and spotted this happy white ceramic otter that I simply had to bring home. Little did I know what my quirky $1.99 find would lead to!
My little thrifting mascot sometimes serves as a doorstop in our bedroom, but I kind of like him here on the vintage mailbox in the living room chilling with The Original Couch Floozy. My own little shrine to thrifting!
Oh my gosh, the #thriftscorethursday hashtag feed gets better and better and harder to choose favorites from each week! Without getting overly emotional, I have to confess that scrolling through and reading comments and seeing such a sweet, encouraging, enthusiastic community of treasure-seekers that has formed seriously makes me tear up with happiness. Thank you all so much for participating each week!
As always, it is incredibly hard to choose only a few favorites to feature here, so please know that I scroll through and enjoy reading each and every one of your posts!
@stephlovesdesign shared this incredible brass porthole mirror! I can hardly handle this awesomeness!
This delectable embroidered piece was found by @redhousewest for only $4! You know I’m such a softie for vintage embroidery! Just think of the labor of love that went into this!
This brass dachshund bottle opener is just freaking fantastic.
