Good morning, friends!
What’s new in your lives this week?
Over here, I’ve just been hustling on a secret project (hang in there, all will be revealed soon!), rearranging furniture (as hinted in this post), and generally having fun making our new house a home.
[Poll: how long can I call it our “new” house? We’ve been here four months… It still feels like we just moved in!]
My Finds:
So I shared the very front room of our house with you earlier this week, the “library”, which is immediately to your left when you walk in the front door.
To your right, you have a doorway to Bryan’s office, and this little entryway vignette:
We also used the vintage post office box in the entryway of our first house, and you might recognize “Baxter”, our friendly household guardian angel Boston Terrier statue, from the second-ever Thrift Score Thursday post. The gold sunburst mirror was a DIY project, and you got to meet the brass antelope pair for Thrift Score Thursday week 96.
So what’s actually new here?
I found the Fitz & Floyd “Temple Dragon” planter + carved wooden stand + pretty darn realistic silk orchid plant at the thrift store for under $10 this past weekend, and the woven mat everything is sitting on was found at the same thrift store, a few weeks back, for pennies!
The fake orchids are surprisingly lifelike, and I’m in love with the Fitz & Floyd temple dragon planter, dated 1975 on the bottom – the print is so crisp and flawless, especially considering its age!

Brass pocket change dish: Thrift Score Thursday week 111
Finally, in context, featuring a sneak peek of my best, most recent score in situ…
Thrift Score Thursday Features:
And now for the features, chosen from the #thriftscorethursday feed on Intagram! It’s NEVER an easy decision, but here’s what was speaking to me this week…
Loving the colors from this table setting shared by Nikki (@the.wolfeden) – that teal is too delicious, especially paired with those rustic stoneware plates and picnic-esque flatware!

Morgan (@thegildedpanda) shared this selfie that’s just chock-full of thrifted goodness: the pottery, the glass jar, the blue and white egg, the cat figurine, the glass dome and base, the rattan plant stand, the orange enamel pot… So much gathered goodness!

Speaking of gathered goodness, how incredible is this dining room from Christina (@found_phoenix_restoration), filled with Mid Century Modern treasures?! Christina employed one of my favorite strategies – sell off what you have to fund your new finds – and scored this table and chairs for net $110!
I have a weakness for all things original and oil painted, and this vintage sea captain portrait Gillian (@my.life.in.colour) found is no exception! This shot feels very Emily Henderson to me, which is just about the highest form of praise in my book!
Just check out this incredible space from Kim (@galladoodle) – dark walls make such a striking background for vintage finds and fresh greenery!

And finally, since I have libraries so on the brain these days, I just had to share this space from Courtney (@courtneykennedydesign)! She filled her shelves with vintage books from thrift stores – hardback Better Home and Garden volumes from the 70’s, old encyclopedias, etc – and brought in a thrifted mirror, chair, coffee table, and decor pieces! Dreamy!

My mom had a bank of PO boxes she uses as an end table, Her’s has more, smaller oxes and the grandkids love it. they will sit and play for hours opening all the little doors and putting little things inside. Maybe I need one in my craft room for all my little things! And you know I had to pick that room from Found Pheonix too, looks vaguely familiar hmmm.
I have one with the little doors as well, but the locking mechanism is missing, so the doors don’t open, unfortunately, without sticking a screwdriver through a little hole and releasing the pin. So I just use it as a bedside table in our guest room!
That pocket change dish is so so cool!
Thanks Julia! I first saw one in the #thriftscorethursday feed and was wishing for one ever since!
i love your vignette and so many of your features… many of them were on my short list!
Thank you Cassie! I love the way the features really reflect what I’m feeling lately – basically my future thrifting wishlist, haha!
I adore that funky cute postal box. Such the perfect dose of whimsy for all your other treasures. I’m pretty jealous of your woven mat. I never find textiles around here!
Thanks Corinna! Yes, when I found that mat I actually thought of you! Trying to incorporate a little bit more boho in my life lately!
Love it all!💖
Thank you Jillian!
Oh fun!! I saw your find on Craigslist a few weeks ago and hovered over it for a few minutes! Excited to see how you style it! Unless you decide to sell it…*runs to check Craigslist again*
Oh really? That’s too cool! I wonder how on earth it was on Craigslist that long without being snatched up?! I texted the seller the second I saw it, sure it would have been sold already 🙂
(I’m planning on hanging onto this one for a while… *Planning.*)
😉
I hope you keep it! Agreed though, I thought it would sell much faster than it did. If I didn’t have 3 young hoodlums who like to attack any and every piece of furniture like it’s a fire breathing dragon that needs to be vanquished, I would have considered it!
I COMPLETELY understand! I know my decorating style will have to change drastically if/when kiddos come into the picture! My friends like to tell me my home is a toddler death-trap… Oh dear! 😀
