The Gathered Home Uses:
Web Hosting: You guys, I’m not kidding… My web host’s name is Cut All The Shit and that’s exactly what they do – no non-sense, simple, helpful, reasonable web hosting. Plus, their initialism is CATS, which this crazy cat lady adores! I have only good things to say about this Texas-based company, and if you give them a try, tell them The Gathered Home sent you!
Ad Management: This year, I started an awesome new job with AdThrive, an incredible ad-management and optimization company, and moved The Gathered Home to their ad network. To say I LOVE IT THERE would be an understatement. I know first-hand what awesome people they are, and how much they care about the publishers in their network!
Blog Services: The Gathered Home is a WordPress site, built on the Genesis Framework from Studiopress.
Logo Design: Bonnie Kuhl from Archer & Olive. I featured Bonnie’s work in an Artist Spotlight post and was hit over the head with how perfectly her beautiful art fit with the theme of my blog, so I asked her to create a new logo for The Gathered Home and she hit it out of the park.
Email Subscription Service: Mailchimp. It’s currently FREE for my size email list, and I’ve never had an issue with their service! I moved over to Mailchimp when my previous email subscription service Feedblitz tripled their monthly prices without warning, and I couldn’t be happier!
Pinterest Scheduling Service: I absolutely love Boardbooster because I rarely have to think about it! I devoted several hours up front to set up all my campaigns, looping details, and secret boards, and now I just devote an hour or two every week or so to maintaining it all.
My Favorite WordPress Plugins:
Content Views: I’ve used this plugin to generate the thumbnail galleries on many of my pages, like my Project Gallery. You can set it to auto-populate using specific categories or tags or just use specific post IDs. The best part: it’s free and mobile-responsive!
Akismet: I currently have 2,000+ comments in my spam filter right now! Thanks to this plugin, I rarely have to deal with spam.
Vaultpress: I pay $4/month to have my site backed up daily with Vaultpress’s subscription service, so that if it crashes, I’ll be able to restore everything to the previous day’s settings. Worth it to me!
