Hey hey, you guys!
Thanks for hanging in there while we took a teeny break from Thrift Score Thursday!
This little [but not so little anymore] hashtag party has been running for almost three years ago, and in internet time, that’s like pretty ancient… (I thought about making a joke about how it’s outlasted lots of celebrity relationships, but I’m sorry, I can’t yet – I’m still too sad about Brad and Angelina!)
All that is to say, a lot can change in three years, especially online, and especially in blogging where everything moves a mile a minute and you’re constantly thinking a season or two ahead.
My Thrift Score Thursday cohosts and I decided to use our time off to really think about this series and dig deep into what was working, what wasn’t working, and how we could make Thrift Score Thursday better for you guys and for our blogs.
I’ll admit, it was a little touch and go.
I think we were all just a little burned out after over one hundred and thirty weeks of repetition – there were awesome new features each week, to be sure, but at least for me, the Thrift Score Thursday formula was starting to feel a little stale.
But thanks to your outpouring of support on the last post, I knew it wasn’t time to stop the music: this party still has plenty of life left in it and the fact that you guys love this series and look forward to these posts is more than enough to keep me going!
So we continued to brainstorm. How could we feel rejuvenated? Give ourselves a little breathing room? But still give you guys the deluge of thrifting inspiration you’ve come to love and look forward to?
And we came to the conclusion that moving forward in the best way possible for us, our blogs, and you guys, also meant taking a little bit of a step back…
Your Hosts: Thrift Score Thursday will continue to be hosted by myself, Cassie from Cassie Bustamante and Maggie from Maggie Overby Studios. Our friend Corinna from A Designer at Home won’t be continuing as a Thrift Score Thursday host – we’ll miss her and we know you guys will too!
Weekly: We will still be keeping up with #thriftscorethursday on Instagram each week, and each host will share a favorite feature there, but we may or may not decide to share a thrifting-related post on our blogs on Thursdays. I love getting to share my thrift finds with you guys here on the blog, so you can definitely expect to see those pretty regularly on Thursdays, but I’m also going to give myself the freedom to take a week off if and when it’s needed!
Monthly: However, mark your calendars, because the 1st Thursday of every month, my cohosts and I will get back together for a Thrift Score Thursday feature-palooza! We’ll be choosing favorites from the #thriftscorethursday hashtag to feature on our blogs and these feature posts will be better than ever – I truly want you guys to leave each post with even more thrifting knowledge, information, and inspiration.
Also, I know some of you guys don’t use Instagram, and if that’s the case and you’ve got thrift scores to share, I’d like to open this up for email submissions as well. I can’t promise your submissions will make it into a post, but hey – I’m always excited to see a good thrift find!
What we’re looking for: I wanted to share a little bit of what I’m looking for when I’m scrolling through and choosing features. They definitely don’t need to have all these attributes, but here are a few things that tend to catch my eye…
- Clear photographs – crisp, in-focus shots using natural daylight are always a plus.
- Thrift finds in use – I LOVE seeing your thrift finds in daily use in your home!
- Captions that tell me something about the thrift find – I’m a sucker for a good backstory and I really enjoy hearing all your thrifting tales.
This isn’t a laundry list of requirements by any means! I just thought you might be interested in hearing what calls out to me when I’m browsing Instagram – as someone who’s looked at over 14,000 Thrift Score Thursday finds so far!
SAVE THE DATE! Since next week is actually the 1st Thursday of the month, we’ve decided to wait to kick off our new Thrift Score Thursday schedule until Thursday, December 1st. So you have plenty of time to get those thrift scores photographed and shared between now and then!
We are also planning an awesome surprise thrifted giveaway!!! to help celebrate this new chapter of Thrift Score Thursday and to thank you guys for being such loyal and supportive participants! What are we giving away?! Well, it is a surprise, but let’s just say you’ll have the chance to win some pretty fun little thrifted Christmas gifts from each Thrift Score Thursday host!
Whew! That’s a lot of verbiage for what started out as some sparse little bullet points in my outline! What can I say, I love chatting with you guys and I can get really passionate about Thrift Score Thursday. Thanks again for helping to make it everything it is today – I’m excited to see where the next several years will take us!

And here I am quite late responding to your comment! I took some time off blogging for the holidays and it has been a little hard getting back into the swing of it! I’m so glad you love Thrift Score Thursday – that kind of feedback is exactly what encourages us to keep it going! 🙂
