Okay friends, I need to come clean about something.
I’ve been keeping this on the hush-hush for a little while because I was a little afraid to put it out there. Maybe it’s some sort of superstition, or just a fear of looking silly if something falls through…
Either way, I don’t like feeling like there is this total wall between my real life and my online presence. I’ve been learning a lot this year about fears and truth, so here goes – let’s get transparent!
This fall, Bryan started a new job that’s almost an hour away in good traffic and almost two in bad. When he took the job, we went in with the plan of moving closer to work. Which is great, because it also happens to be closer to both of our families as well, and somewhere we’d both love to put down roots.
So these last two months, I’ve been working as hard as possible to get our house ready to list – wrapping up unfinished details (I’m so guilty of getting things 95% finished and then putting off the final 5% for another day), doing touch-ups, cleaning, decluttering, etc. Oh, and finally tackling the kitchen walls that have been sitting as unfinished drywall for over a year now.
All the while doing my best to keep up with blogging obligations and deadlines. P.S. This explains why I’ve been simply a martyr at the thrift store lately – trying my darndest not to bring home extra stuff to move!
Then, last week, I got hit with some kind of respiratory/sinus infection and was too sick to leave the couch for most of it and made very little headway in either house-prep or blog projects.
So that’s where I am.
I’m not sure exactly when we’ll be ready to put our house on the market or when we’ll be moving. The plan is to sell, put our things in storage, and then stay with my family briefly while we house hunt. There’s a whole lot of chaos ahead and I really can’t even let myself dwell on it too much or I get completely overwhelmed.
Perhaps not a picture-perfect update, but it might explain my sporadic presence in social media and blogging lately. Stay tuned for updates, because I’ll try to be better about sharing and updating… Once every room in the house isn’t a total disaster zone!
The upside to being sick for over a week?
I’m completely caught up on the latest season of Supernatural and working my way back through the series. Gotta love it.

Watching: Supernatural
. My sister got me into this series and I’m so totally hooked. #cantstopwontstopReading: Enclave by Ann Aguirre. Re-reading, in fact. Young adult dystopian fiction is my guilty pleasure. (You know, besides Supernatural.) I couldn’t sleep the other night, so I pulled this up on the Kindle app on my phone. I had forgotten how much it sucks you in… I finished the first half in two hours and then finally made myself put it down and go to sleep!
Eating: You guys, Blue Bell is back in North Texas! If you aren’t from Texas, you might not understand this, but it’s been sorely missing from my life these last few months and I’m so glad it’s back on the shelves! A gallon of Cookies and Cream has been nursing me back to health lately.
The procrastination is strong, but I’m feeling better and ready to dive back into the mess this week! Before that, though, let’s catch up… What’s new and exciting in your life?
Jessica says
I thought you were gonna say something else. I hope you get better and I am excited to see your blog evolve and what may come with your current and new home.
Thanks Jess! All kinds of crazy, but hopefully there will be some good blog posts out of it all 😉
Exciting times! Moving is never really *fun* per say, but house hunting and settling down somewhere new always gives you a boost and a refresh, it feels like. Being close to family and work is of course a big added bonus.
Hope you feel better soon! Glad you are taking the proper medications to get you back on your feet. I hope Blue Bell makes it to the Midwest soon! I love that stuff soooo much. I was afraid it was gone for good.
I really hoped we might stay here for quite a while – I detest moving! Starting fresh is always a great experience though! Once we’re in that phase of the process, I think I’ll be able to enjoy the ride!
And I’ll have a bowl of Blue Bell in your honor 😉 Thanks, sweet friend!
I agree! Moving is for the birds, but it’s also exciting to start new! Hope you get to feeling better and best of luck with the chaos!!
Think of it as an adventure! Exciting times ahead to focus on and ignore the chaos!
I’ll do my best! I’m a bit of a wallow-er, worst-case-scenario, doomsday-prepper myself, but I’m trying to stay positive, haha 😉
Exciting! I am never moving again, so I love living vicariously through other people’s real estate adventures!
Oh how I thought/hoped that might be the case for us! 😉 Fingers crossed it’s true this next time, haha.
I hope you feel better soon and hope that your house hunting and selling go off without a hitch! Love that candid shot, gotta to show we don’t need to live in perfectly styled rooms 100% of the time.
*goes not gotta
Haha, it’s so far from styled right now! It gets worse before it gets better! 😉
Hey! Ok, so I know this is terrible, but I can’t help but think new house=blank canvas for projects! Ha! Hope you feel better, although binging on TV and eating ice cream kind of makes up for it. We just started carrying Blue Bell in my store (college campus) and it flew off the shelves we were so bummed when it went away. I don’t think it’s made its way to FL yet, but I’m looking for it! Baby steps, you can do it!
Agreed – that’s great motivation for me! It is exciting to think of starting fresh 🙂
Get well soon. Maybe think of this move as a new chapter, a blank canvas in which new colors, sounds, sights, smells, friends and renewed relationships with family members are going to be created. How exciting for you!!!!! It is the best motivation in the world to put the finishing touches on your place now. Good luck.
Lovely perspective, Deb! I am excited, when I can separate it from the extra-long to-do list and all that associated stress 🙂 Thank you!
so exciting!!! it will be awesome! and my house looks like that now, too. worse maybe.
Thanks Cassie! 🙂
I grew up in SW Oklahoma and I LOVE Blue Bell! I now live in Indiana and couldn’t believe my luck when I saw Blue Bell at the grocery store a couple years ago. I totally understand your excitement.
Hope you’re feeling better. 🙂
Ugh feel better or just enjoy the rest time for a bit!! 😉 Excited to see what the future holds for you guys! Before you made the leap way (way) far away from me, there needs to be another meet up!!
Oh wow no way!
