I’m back and I’m sunburned and I’m tired and I’m deeply relaxed from our Gulf Shores, Alabama vacation. As you might surmise from my Instagram collage above, we had a FABULOUS time!
Deep blue skies.
Fluffy Pixar clouds.
Pillowy white sand.
A rainbow beach umbrella.
Expired sunscreen. We applied tons, saying: “We don’t want to get burned on the first day! That could really ruin the rest of the week…” Haha.
And oh, the seafood! (If you ever find yourselves in Gulf Shores, we HIGHLY recommend Sassy Bass, and King Neptune’s!)
I discovered the culinary delight of baked oysters topped with butter and crusty parmesan cheese.
We concocted the world’s best pizza consisting of a whole wheat crust brushed with olive oil and topped with goat cheese, caramelized onions, and smoked salmon.
Tons of sitting on the beach reading, people watching, and drinking cold beer.
I devoured “Going Postal” by Terry Pratchett, and it was everything I love in a book: fantasy, whimsy, sarcasm… Perfect.
We didn’t go parasailing, jetskiing, or kitesurfing. We really didn’t do a thing besides sit at the beach, play in the water, and eat.
It was my dream vacation.
Sometimes you just need to be still.
One morning at the beach, there was this sweet, sleek little black plane flying around doing crazy stunts:
Joined by some very coordinated seagulls…
Warning: sappy couple beach photos incoming. This was our first big vacation of our marriage, and sort of our substitute honeymoon.
You know we took cheesy feet photos:

And that’s that. Our vacation was a resounding success, and a wonderful way to jump into Summer 2013.
I’m refreshed and ready to start life again here!
P.S. I was a total creeper and snapped this photo of an adorable couple and their granddaughter. Aren’t they too cute?
